G’day, my name is Jason Bainbridge, I am a Freelance Houston sports photographer showing you the games, players, fans and all the action in between through my lens. I am a member of the National Press Photographers Association and have all of my own camera gear including:
- Nikon D500
- Nikon Z6
- 24-70/4 S
- 20-200/2.8 FL
- 300/4 PF
- 14-30/4 S
While trying to think of what to use for my Instagram handle I recalled that one of my friends that isn’t sports savvy told me that she liked my “sports ball photos” so from that moment on I knew what my identity for sports photography would be and thankfully both the social media accounts and the website were available so here I am.
More about me
I am an Australian that is now a US Permanent Resident that originally came to the US for a short project that got extended with the client ultimately wanting me here longer term so once all the immigration paperwork was sorted I moved here with just two suitcases. It has been over 15 years now here in Houston and baseball was the most logical sport for me to adopt given the admittedly vague similarities to cricket so I have been an Astros fan almost that entire time, this led me to start bringing my camera to games, which led me to becoming interested in sports photography in general as I found I was quite good at it.
Several camera & lenses upgrades and many, many hours of practice later I am now a working professional in the field of sports photography as a freelancer with a primary focus at the moment on Cricket here in Houston with plans to expand to other sports in the near future.
Outside of sports & photography my passion is with camping, whenever life allows I head to the woods, desert or mountains to get away from it all for a few days completely off-grid, if that sort of thing interests you then please give my @whileinthewild Instagram account a follow.
